So why do we have Michigan BBF?  Today when we want resources, preaching or new ideas, we just have to go to our computers. Every month it seems like a new advertisement for a conference looks great and will solve many ministry dilemmas.  So, in our changing world, what is the purpose of “fellowship” meetings?  I think, if you were to ask Solomon, he would quote something out of a book he wrote.

Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.

Solomon tells us that we get more done with others.  He tells us that when we stumble and fall, it helps to have a hand up.  He is clear that one thing we must fight is isolation. So, maybe this is one reason why we need to get together for  meetings. It is our declaration that we need each other.

The Michigan Baptist Bible Fellowship is a group of pastors of independent churches who fellowship with one another for mutual encouragement and collaborative ministry. The only critieria for official recognition is agreement with the ’20 Articles of Faith’ of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International and financial support of at least one of the missions endeavors of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International.

Friendship and fellowship are costly. They do not come automatically. There is always a price to be paid when it comes to developing relationships. Our fellowship meetings often come during weeks where it seems we have more to do than we can get done.  Let us make a real effort to get together. We just might end up blessing each other.
